A Diplomatic Ending

Story:

Noel had been coming back every day to ride and get better at riding Tia. However, both he and Tia knew that they would soon be parted, as it is with all those seeking their Diplomas. Then it was the day. He knew that their time was about to be over. He knew it was time to race.
Noel went to Elsevier and met up with Tia, tacking her up himself for the ride. He groomed her until she glimmered under the sun, her gradient coat shining beautifully in all it's dark and light glory. Her amber eyes watched him, glittering with happiness and sadness because she knew their time together had come to a close. He put on all the beaten old tack and got into his suit. He hopped up on her at the facilities and rode her down to the beach to do the race. He sat on her at one end and removed his helmet, hugging her from above and feeling his face rub against her soft fur. He put back on his helmet and readied himself. He knew now that he could stay on at the high velocity speed with which Shedus ran. He took a deep breath, feeling Tia tense as she readied herself to go.
"Now," Noel whispered. And off they went.
